Egypt’s national team doctor Mohamed Abou El-Ela has revealed that Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah played against Real Madrid in the UCL final with an injury.
Salah sustained that injury in the FA Cup final against Chelsea in May. As a result, Mohamed missed the Reds’ next Premier League game and played only half an hour in the final game against Wolverhampton.
The 30-year-old Egyptian played the entirety of the Champions League final against Real Madrid in Paris and then went on to play for his national team in the Africa Cup qualifier, but it came with great difficulty.
“Salah sustained a drive muscle injury during the FA Cup final. He then played against Wolverhampton and in the Champions League final, all within 14 days.”
“We’ve seen the statistics that he’s the second most minutes played player this season.”
“We take and release players along with medical reports and Liverpool have told us he is in pain and needs X-rays. There is no such thing as a 100 per cent healthy player and in his case the question was whether we could get him to play so there was no risk.”
